Collective Worship

Collective Worship at the Skylark Federation

Collective Worship is a fundamental part of daily life across our schools. It provides a dedicated space for our school community to come together for a time of reflection, celebration, reverence, and sharing. Our worship is designed to be inclusive and engaging, offering students a moment of calm and a chance to consider the values that shape our school culture.

A Journey Through the Year

Our worship schedule follows the rhythm of the Christian calendar, marking significant dates and festivals that help children understand global traditions and heritage. Throughout the year, we explore a variety of overarching themes led by senior leaders and school staff, including:

  • Global Perspectives: Exploring faith and stories from around the world.

  • Theological Exploration: Considering big questions and Christian ideas about the nature of God.

  • Environmental Stewardship: Reflecting on our "Heart for the Earth" and our responsibility to the world around us.

  • Seasonal Reflections: Marking times of preparation and celebration such as Advent, Christmas, Lent, and Easter.

Habits of Character

We believe that education should shape who a child is, not just what they know. Our curriculum and worship are underpinned by our Habits of Character, which we focus on throughout the year:

  • Compassion & Integrity: Acting with kindness and doing the right thing.

  • Independence & Reflection: Growing as thinkers and taking time to look inward.

  • Resilience & Collaboration: Overcoming challenges together and valuing teamwork.

These habits are complemented by our termly values, such as Trust, Perseverance, and Service, ensuring that the lessons learned in the classroom and during worship translate into meaningful actions in the playground and beyond.

Our Commitment

By bridging substantive knowledge with spiritual development, we foster an environment where children feel they belong and are empowered to contribute positively to a global society. We invite our families and the wider community to join us in this journey of growth, curiosity, and mutual respect.
